Red Velvet Crinkles

Christmas is indeed the most wonderful time of the year. Every year, there is a Christmas candlelight service at the church and we give out a special invitation for that night to friends and family. This year, I bake the red crinkle to go along with the invites.

It's my first time to make red velvet crinkles and sourcing out different recipes from the web, it turns out to be soft and chewy. Not bad for the first time. Here is my take on this sweet goody.

Ingredients:

3 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup butter
3 eggs
1tbsp buttermilk
1 1/3 tsp vanilla
2 tbsp red food color
1 cup powdered sugar

First, place the soft butter with the granulated sugar in a stand mixer using the flat beater spatula (if you have one), let it mixed for 2 minutes and add egg one at a time until it is fully incorporated and creamy texture. While that is working, sift all the dry ingredients and add it in the buttercream mixture one third at a time. Finally, add the remaining wet ingredients. Stop mixing when all the food color is well distributed in the batter. Chill it for 20 to 30 minutes. After chilling, scoop the batter using ice cream or cookie scooper and roll into a round shape then drench it in the icing sugar, coating it generously. Bake in 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Let it cool before serving.

Serve with love.
